Our History

Since these chambers were founded as a common law set in the Temple in the 1940s, family law has been one of our principal strengths. In 1987 due to a need to expand we moved from 2 Dr Johnson’s Buildings in the Temple to Raymond Buildings in Gray’s Inn. In 1991 we again needed more space and came to our Grade II listed premises at 29-30 Bedford Row – the first barristers’ chambers to move into this beautiful Georgian street and which now houses several of the Bar’s leading sets. In 1995 we expanded yet again to incorporate the adjoining building at 31 Bedford Row. Since then, we have refurbished our two buildings on several occasions most recently over the summer of 2022.

On any basis, our expansion has been a great success and it has occurred in parallel with our development into a specialist family set and we are now one of the foremost family law barristers’ chambers in the country.
