Professional Practice

Annabel Wentworth accepts instructions in all areas of the law concerning children, including private and public law.

In private law she often acts for parents in disagreements over living and contact arrangements. Her work includes contact and residence disputes, declarations of parentage, internal relocation and leave to remove from the jurisdiction.

In public law, she primarily represents children and parents involved in complex proceedings involving serious allegations of abuse of children, often including multiple experts. This has extended to fatal or near fatal injuries within the family. She has extensive experience of acting for vulnerable clients.

  • Recommendations

"I have instructed Annabel to represent children and parents in the County Court and FPC, for findings of fact and at the welfare stage. The cases varied in complexity, from non accidental injury to chronic neglect, drug and alcohol issues and domestic violence. Her approach on all matters is analytical, she is well prepared and informed, imaginative in approach. Annabel has an easy manner with clients, relaxed, professional and constructive. Above all she is a good lawyer who is well respected by the court."

“I have instructed Annabel on children matters since the outset of my career. This has included many cases with local authority involvement, serious medical or criminal issues and allegations of domestic abuse and violence. Annabel always approaches matters sensitively and clients and others like and respect her. She is pragmatic, fair and gives clients very clear advice on the court’s likely approach which is generally spot on. She is wonderful to work with.”
