Introduction

29 Bedford Row is a recognised leader in the field of family law. We are described by Chambers & Partners 2008 as "approachable and practical”, with an "upbeat, youthful feel" with "slick clerking" and a "very strong stable of juniors." The Legal 500 2007 describes chambers as "a highly professional team of silks and juniors [that] attracts many admirers".

Many members of Chambers are also individually listed as leaders in the Family/Matrimonial field in Chambers & Partners, The Legal 500 and Legal Experts.

Chambers consists of 48 barristers including four silks. We are supported by a team of ten clerks including two dedicated fees clerks.

Our Expertise

We offer specialist knowledge at every level of seniority. In addition to a team of top-flight divorce and ancillary relief practitioners, we have expertise in all aspects of the law relating to children, including child abduction and adoption. In public law cases we act for parents, local authorities and guardians. We are frequently instructed in Inheritance Act work and family law related professional negligence. We also specialise in the Civil Partnership Act 2004 and in cohabitation cases involving both mixed sex and same sex couples.

A number of members of chambers sit in a part-time judicial capacity as Deputy High Court Judges, Recorders and Deputy District Judges.

Many members of chambers write articles and lecture on a variety of topics and also chair and participate in conferences and seminars both in-house and externally.
